The San Luis Obispo County Band is presenting its 25th Annual Benefit Concert on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 3 PM at the Mount Carmel Lutheran Church in SLO. The Band’s concert goals are: (1) to provide you with an great afternoon of wonderful music, and (2) to raise funds for local the 40 Prado homeless services organization.
Director Leonard Lutz has selected a great program that will transport you “Around the World” musically:
Three Ayres from Gloucester, Ballet Egyptien, Slavonic Dance No. 8, Mandalen Landscapes, El Relicario, Chronicles of Narnia, Caribbean Fantasy, Pirates of the Caribbean, Fantasy on Yankee Doodle, Benny Goodman: King of Swing, America, the Beautiful arranged by Carmen Dragon.
A stirring Star-Spangled Banner by Mark Williams will open, and Sousa’s Semper
Fidelis March, plus Around the World will complete this entertaining program.
The concert venue will be the Mount Carmel Lutheran Church, 1701 Fredericks Street,
San Luis Obispo. A minimum donation of $10 is requested at the door. All donations
(tax-deductible) will go to the Friends of 40 Prado for the homeless services of SLO
County (a 501(c)(3) non-profit, 40prado.org ).
The San Luis Obispo County Band’s roots extend back to 1874. Throughout its
existence, the SLO County Band has provided traditional band music for the community,
playing for a wide variety of civic and patriotic events throughout the county. This 25th
Annual Benefit Concert demonstrates the Band’s longterm commitment to public service
through the performance of band music. Band members come from throughout the
County and all area musicians are welcome to join the Band.
